Quick Answer: Genesis 1 reminds us that God is the Creator of everything. Because He existed before all creation, He deserves first place in our lives.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)
These opening words establish the foundation of our faith. Before there was light, time, or humanity, there was God. Genesis 1 reveals His power, wisdom, and purpose, reminding us that we were created in His image to know, love, and serve Him.
The Significance of Priority
The creation account shows God bringing order out of chaos. In the same way, our lives find true peace and purpose when we place Him first. Putting God first is more than a religious practice—it's the foundation for living with wisdom, hope, and eternal perspective.
Jesus reinforces this truth in Matthew 6:33: "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." When we seek God first, our priorities shift from temporary success to lasting significance.
Practical Ways to Put God First
• Start each day by reading God's Word.
• Pray before making important decisions.
• Trust God's direction in every area of life.
• Remember you were created in His image and live with integrity, compassion, and purpose.
No matter where you are in your faith journey, Genesis 1 invites you to begin where the Bible begins—with God. When He is at the center of our lives, He brings peace, direction, and lasting hope.
